The German government and Turkish Airlines have agreed to jointly launch a new program “From the airport straight to the job center”. The idea is simple – after arrival, Turkish passengers must be sent immediately to the job center in order to assign unemployment benefits, provide mediation in finding a job as soon as possible and organize assistance to start a new life in Germany.
The first passengers who got into the test group of the program speak of a mixed first impression and say that the program needs to be improved. Jobcenters, still experiencing an influx of migrants from Ukraine, were not ready to ensure such a passability of people and, as a result, to start implementing such a program as soon as possible. Queues in job centers even at the stage of testing the program “From the airport straight to the job center” became even longer.
“Of course, we still have a lot of work to do so that people arriving in our country start working and paying taxes as soon as possible. Old people need care, there are not enough painters at all, nurses with children will not be superfluous either. I would not like to say, but if there have not been any particular problems with the Ukrainians, then the unwillingness of Middle Asian women to work worries us. And such a high birth rate, you know. We Germans didn’t know that this could happen at all. But I love döner kebab, just in case.”
Otto Müller, Employment Consultant.
The influx of Ukrainians clearly disappointed many Turks, some of whom even decided to return to their native country, even despite recent earthquake in Turkey and Syria. Anyway, the program will continue its development. The German government is already thinking about similar programs for Syrians and Ukrainians.
Thus, if you are from one of these countries and are going (which is quite logical) to immigrate to Germany, do not forget to check if you have a ticket “From the airport straight to the job center”. Perhaps this will be your ticket to a new career and successful adaptation in a new country!
